Baptisms

Therefore, we were buried together with him through baptism into his death,
so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
we too can walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:4

Who should be baptized?

People of all ages can be baptized at West Union Lutheran. Non-members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized.

We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water and making the sign of the cross on the forehead with anointing oil to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches and therefore does not re-baptize people, but we do encourage people to attend a special baptism worship service to remember their baptisms. This special service is usually the first Sunday in November.

When do baptisms occur?

Sprinkling and anointing with oil occur during the worship service throughout the year. Your family may have reserved seating and use of our library space before and after worship to accommodate your needs, friends, and family.

For special circumstances Pastor Adam is willing to host a private baptism or off-site baptism. Contact Pastor Adam for further information.

How do I schedule a baptism?

All baptisms are scheduled through the church office. Please click on the link to contact the church office.

After you send a message or call the church office, you will receive additional instructions by email and be contacted to schedule a one-on-one meeting with Pastor Adam to discuss your baptism and walk through the logistics a few weeks prior to the date.

Contact the church office about inquiring for a baptism.
