“Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” — Romans 6:4
Who Can Be Baptized?
At West Union Lutheran, people of all ages are welcomed to the waters of baptism.
-
You do not need to be a member to be baptized, though we encourage new families to consider membership afterward.
-
We baptize by sprinkling holy water and marking the sign of the cross with anointing oil, as we invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) recognizes baptisms from other Christian churches and does not re-baptize. Each November, we hold a special worship service to remember our baptisms.
When Do Baptisms Take Place?
-
Baptisms normally occur during worship throughout the year.
-
Families are welcome to use our library before and after worship to gather with loved ones.
-
In special circumstances, Pastor Adam may arrange a private or off-site baptism.
